My professional story

As a teenager I decided to become an English and French teacher. As a result, I started English studies at the university after high school. However, the studies were interrupted by the Finnish compulsory military service. In the army I decided to apply for the military officer studies with the thought of creating a career in the army. I did get through the entry exam. However, eventually I came to the conclusion the more free planning environment of a civilian university fit me better. I continued my language studies more determined and also acquired the right to study French as a major subject. While studying, I applied for the psychology major and completed M.A. degrees in both psychology and English language, with teacher studies as a minor subject.

During the study years I also started translating psychological material in research projects. In the summertime I also worked as a care/rehabilitation assistant in an nursing home, partly also as a volunteer worker. In this environment I got interested in the field of ageing and completed my psychology internship in a university hospital psychogeriatric ward.

I graduated 2012 as psychotherapist and in 2014 started working part-time as The Finnish Social Insurance Institution’s service provider with rehabilitation psychotherapies.

I stayed working in the hospital after graduation (in 2007) for two years, before receiving a permanent position in a health care center of a smallish community. Concurrently I worked part-time in research projects and among translations, slowly expanding my knowledge and skills to the field of medical translations. After three years it was again time to change the employer, this time due to a move of locality because of getting children. After this change I worked three years in a town’s mental health unit.

I graduated 2012 as psychotherapist and in 2014 started working part-time as The Finnish Social Insurance Institution’s service provider with rehabilitation psychotherapies. In the same year I also started working as a psychologist in occupational health care. Finally in 2016 I decided to stop wage-paid work and start full-time as self-employed.

I’m currently completing aviation psychology studies accredited by The European Association for Aviation Psychology.

In 2017 I graduated as occupational health care psychologist. My work experience in the occupational health care has gradually expanded to the fields of organizational consultancy and supervision. I’m currently completing aviation psychology studies accredited by The European Association for Aviation Psychology. The studies include acquiring a pilot license, of which approximately 15 flying hours have been completed so far.

My free-time is spent with family, sports (tennis, badminton and floorball) and reading.
